Jaclyn believes that music lessons in a supportive and nurturing environment can be enormously beneficial, and that everybody has their own pace and has a unique path to follow in their musical journey.
Jaclyn started playing piano at the age of 6 years old and decided in her teenage years that she wanted to become a piano teacher. After getting her Bachelor of Music at the University of Pretoria (South Africa) and a Teacher’s Licentiate in Piano from the University of South Africa she started her teaching career in her early 20’s. Since then, Jaclyn has taught in various music schools in South Africa as well as Singapore and Canada, In her 17 years of teaching piano, Jaclyn has worked with students of different ages and abilities, ranging from 4 year olds to adults. As well as teaching, Jaclyn is also an accomplished instrumental and vocal accompanist. She is a registered music therapist and holds a Masters in Music Therapy studies at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo and a Bmus from the University of Pretoria.

Douglas Scott, PhD (Music), RMT

Douglas Scott's teaching is based on the philosophy that music gives us a way to learn about ourselves, the world, and how we connect to others. He has been teaching for over 20 years and has written methods for flute and voice as well as music theory training and analysis apps.
Doug started music lessons on piano from an early age under the tutelage of his mother and later went on to be a chorister at the Drakensberg Boys' Choir School before finishing his schooling as a student at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg. As a young soloist, his performances include appearances with the South African National Symphony Orchestra and the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra. He has also participated successfully in many national international competitions for flute and vocal ensemble. Latterly, Doug has done extensive amateur theater work as actor, musician and director in Singapore and South Africa. He holds a PhD in music from the University of the Free State, an MMus (flute performance) from UNISA, a BMus (flute performance) from University of Pretoria, as well as an MBA from Edinburgh Business School. He was also a Junior Research Fellow at Wilfrid Laurier University's Manfred and Penny Conrad Institute for Music Therapy Research. Douglas is currently studying for a diploma in horticulture from the University of Guelph.
