It's been 12 years since Teacher Jaclyn's taught me piano and I still have very fond memories of her classes. She was always nurturing and encouraging, and was the first teacher that enabled me to love playing music own my own accord. Her warmth and fun lessons always made me look forward to the piano lessons after school, and left me with suitably good musical intuition that has remained valuable over the years.
Ms Jaclyn is one of the best music teachers I have had in my life. She motivated me as a young student in skill and age, with patience and empathy she taught me to love music and appreciate my instrument. Till today, I am in love with music because of her inspirational guidance, and I am grateful she was my teacher when I needed it most. I hope more students will get to experience her passion and enthusiasm. Thank you Ms Jaclyn.
Having been one of her students for more than ten years, I can confidently say that Teacher Jackie is the best piano teacher you’ll ever meet, and the only piano teacher you’ll ever need. With her patience, passion, and humour, she makes her lessons feel more like a safe space, where my musical skills can flourish. She has a visible love for each of her pupils, and makes the learning experience fun and rewarding.
I highly recommend Douglas Scott. I came to them when I was struggling with some difficult music university classes and needed extra help. He was organized, responsive, patient and able to clearly explain complex topics and nuances; He also inspired me to continue to the end and made the learning process more enjoyable. —A sincere thank you to Scott Family Studios for your excellent support and encouragement!
Doug has been our family's music teacher now for over 5 years. In that time, he has brought out a love of piano and an appreciation for a variety of music genres through the integration of music theory throughout most lessons. Most noticeably, he has developed a skill in our oldest that he didn't have, of daily practice and efficient use of time when practicing, which has had amazing spillover into his academics. In our youngest, he has taught him piano, ukulele and flute, and has brought out a newfound sense of confidence in himself that we have never before seen in him. In just one year, my youngest has surprised himself with his newfound flute skills and he seems to have developed a persisting love of flute as a result.
Doug has taught me piano and guitar, and a bit of trumpet, but mostly piano. He is lenient on homework but still pushes you to get better with speed and effectiveness within the lesson and through group work a couple times a year. He can give hands-on support in lessons to push your skills to a certain point, then gives work for the week to hone those skills; allowing for new skills over the next lessons.

Alternatively, when you select I met Jaclyn Scott at St Mary’s School Waverly in Johannesburg, she was my piano teacher from primary school to high school. I was a very nervous and shy student and what attracted me to Jaclyn was her timid nature and her love for music. My music lessons not only enhanced my ability to play the piano but it brought me out of my shell, it gave me the confidence to play in a school assembly and to do recitals which I would never have done without Jaclyn. Jaclyn is truly suited to the position of music therapist, her vast experience, her personality and her general enthusiasm and love for people make her the greatest asset to wherever she may work. Jaclyn’s studious mind reassures one that she most definitely keeps up to date and current with evidence based literature that her programmes will attest to .I am honored to know such an amazing lady. a text box a settings menu will appear.
Doug and Jaclyn Scott have taught my triplets singing and piano for over five years. They have given to my children, generously, unstintingly, kindly, enthusiastically, not just the discipline of theory and scales but also, more importantly, the sheer joy of self-expression through music. These are not the crusty or rigid disciplinarians of unkinder times. These are two teachers who put in the effort to get to know their students so that they can better teach them and so the student can realise their potential - whatever that potential might be. They have taught and teach a wide range of ages and abilities, of backgrounds and nationalities, and they do so with the same dedication and the same encouragement. They pay close attention to the needs of their students. They work with their students to find ways that will reach them, that will allow them to progress, to grow and to love music. I know this because I have three very different children. My son has an intellectual disability. He processes information very slowly. He also has gross and fine motor problems. Doug and Jaclyn have shown him enormous care and patience. Doug delights in composing and performing rap songs with him. Jaclyn’s work with him has given him the ability to play small pieces and the confidence to do so in front of an audience. It is a source of wonder how far my son has come under their guidance. My middle triplet, a daughter, is a vivacious and loquacious extrovert who has grown in confidence because of Jaclyn and Doug. The youngest triplet, another girl, is an introvert who has found in music a freeing means of expression and spontaneity. Both had the opportunity to play the piano in front of an audience thanks to Doug and Jaclyn. It was a beautiful thing to hear and see them do so. All three have told me often that the best summer camp they ever went to was the Scott Family Music Camp (2022). This was because Doug and Jaclyn give space to young people to be themselves. My children thrived at that camp and they are broken-hearted that they cannot go to another one. I wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend them. It has been a great gift to have them in our lives and I am so pleased that technology means that my children can continue their music lessons under their care.
